Question by Jay L: How do women perceive themselves today?
I have to write an essay about this but I still go off topic. I talk about the society changing the minds of women which makes plastic surgery okay. I really need help so I fully understand what I’m supposed to be looking for and what I’m supposed to write about.

Looking at the media you see women who are super skinny or extraordinarily beautiful (usually who are photoshopped or professionally made over). If this is what the media portrays the ideal woman as, many of us ordinary women don’t feel like we are good enough. We constantly strive to be perfect, when in reality none of us are. Resulting in poor self esteems of almost all women. This is why we go through such extreme measures such as plastic surgery. We all strive to reach the perfection that we will never get.
I’m sure even Jessica Alba feels like she is imperfect while the rest of us would give anything to look like her. No woman is ever happy.
So the answer to you question is imperfect or not good enough.

I don’t think you can clump all women into any type of one kind of perception. You will find that being non-biased and objective could be a problem in this report.
Maybe divide it into different types of women kinds of culture. The first type that comes to mind are “feminist”, this could be divided into extreme and moderate, they consider themselves independent, and self sufficient. Women have long been objectified in a man’s world, times are changing and though women today have way more freedoms than that of women of the past, they are still objectified by men. On the other side, women get “boob jobs” wear make-up, buy sexy clothes… for whom? Men, certainly it isn’t for other women. Are we in ourselves causing our own objectification? Being an object of desire has it’s own advantages. Being a moderate feminist is very complex. Today’s woman want’s it all! Girls want to have fun, but we also want respect. A true feminist would be able to support a family by herself, without any assistance from a man.
The traditionalist, women that want a strong dominant man. They want to be taken care of. They want to raise a traditional family. This type of women appear to be dying out, though small movements are motivated with radio shows like “Dr. Laura”. These people may be more attracted to family and home schooling. Family bonds mean more than economic security. It would probably be wise to seek out men that can provide for this type of life style.
Single family parent. A movement towards carefree promiscuity, often leading to dead beat dads and single family Mom/child families. Honestly I don’t understand this to be a life style of choice. Government assistance, daycare for children and working full time. If there are any good points about this life style is questionable, and research will be necessary for me to say something good about it. Though it seems to be a growing trend.
Homosexual women relationships…. I’ll leave that to you to research out. Since I have know idea off the top of my head.
