Question by : pls help! oily skin and pimples :S i’ve tried almost everything?
ok ok so yeah i’m hitting 18 so don’t be thinking, oh you’re still young and starting puberty so it’s normal etc… i don’t wanna be stuck with acne/pimples entering into my adult hood, because females end puberty at 18 i’ve been told and the pimple scars are ugly.
anyway, i was lucky enough to be “blessed” with my mother’s skin type, which yes is oily :S and i’m convinced it is because of its oiliness that helps cause my random and constant breakouts.
i use Clean and Clear oil absorbing sheets to “take care” of that oily problem however i have also heard that taking away the natural oils of the skin makes it produce even more oil to replace it…so i have NO idea how this is gonna work? i mean the oil absorbing sheets DO absorb but is that causing the oiliness at the same time too?
well…
i’ve tried what feels like a million products but here’s a list:
– ProActiv
– Clean and Clear acne control kit
– Clearasil skin perfecting wash
– Oxy
– Stridex
– Biore pore unclogging scrub
– both the Clean and Clear morning burst cleanser (orange bottle with beads)
and the oil control one (which is the same but green instead)
– Neutrogena rapid clear 2 in 1 fight and fade gel
yeah and amazingly none of them worked.
*sighs*
i’m considering the skin id regimen cause i’m desperate but if you guys have or know anyone with similar skin problems and have tried the skin id or something else that actually works please let me know!
other info:
– yes i wear make-up.
but i’ve done my homework, the pressed powder i wear is oil and scent free and doesn’t clog pores
– moisturize? i do moisturize my face everyday. well anyhow my moisturizer is spf 15 and is non-greasy so it’s not oily i’m pretty sure
– breakouts during periods? well you see i get pimples whenever so to me there is NO difference whatsoever.
– eating habits? umm.. i don’t eat like too much of anything like junk food or fast food
– sleeping patterns? i will admit i’m more of a night owl but i do try to sleep before 1am unless i have something to do until later… but otherwise i do consider myself to have 8 hrs of sleep :p
– i wash my face the morning and at night before i sleep
– if i do use any hair product i usually don’t get hair products on my face
– what else?

Try using these prescription pads called Triaz……..they work pretty well….for overnight solution and long term skin problems ……i used everything as well nothing worked…..but i ended up going to the dermatologist and he gave me that….it works
I’ve been in that situation and there is really nothing you can do about it. There are things you can do to try to reduce the blemishes and get rid of acne/pimples temporarily but you will always be finding yourself cleaning your face or your body depending on where it’s at.
I mean of course your acne should go away eventually but for some this is the case their whole life.
I’m 29 years old and have been suffering from these little pests since I was a teenager. I tried all sorts of face washes from the local grocery store and what not, but nothing seemed to work. If anything it would just make my skin dry and itchy.
Literally the best acne face wash I’ve ever used has been this stuff called clearpores. It has got rid of the acne to quickest and has been a success ever since I got it. It’s unique cause of it’s herbal supplement you take a long with it that helps your skin from the inside out. I saved money on it at skincleansingsystem dot com at the time which was helpful.
You should really look into this stuff and if you can to assure the best results, get the 3 month supply because if it doesn’t work it will still save you butt on the return policy.
Well good luck and best wishes.
I am 29 and still am acne prone, but have it under control.
I also have oily skin, but not as bad as I used to. One thing that helped me was to stop using strong cleansers and other products that drink up too much of your natural oil. I used to think “tight, squeaky clean” feeling was good, but it’s not. When I stopped scrubbing my face with a washcloth and strong facial cleansers, my acne improved by like 30% from that one thing alone. I have found that I have to wash my face with a very very gentle cleanser, like Cetaphil (or the generic brand), with only my clean hands. It may not feel “clean”, but I know its clean, and my face is so much less irritated.
The other point is that, our face is so sensitive to changes in products. If you keep changing your products, you will see your face get bad because it has to adjust to something new. Most products will cause you get worse before you can tell whether they are beneficial or not. We tend to give up too quickly.
In my desperate search for a routine and products that were inexpensive and cost effective, I found Dan Kern’s website. He wasn’t trying to sell anything and just shared what worked for him. This was back in 2002. He recommended all over the counter stuff, but now he does have his own products — which the acne cream I guarantee you is cheaper and better quality than the one you can buy at Walmart. My face peeled and was red for about two weeks on his regimen before it started getting better. I was glad I peeled though, because it took off a lot of splotchy skin.
Anyways, his regimen works well and the product line is not expensive compared to other products. When I think of my own journey and the fact that I still have to treat my face to keep it looking good at 29, all I can say is God bless you, Dan.
His website is below. Please remember, if you try him, you have to follow his suggestion EXACTLY, especially the part about using a whole lot of 2.5% benzoyl peroxide product.
P.S. One other key that I found was critical was not touching certain parts of my face. For some reason, my forehead is very sensitive to touch. If I put a finger on a spot, I can almost guarantee that I will start to develop a pimple there. But my chin area is not as sensitive. And the last thing, don’t mess with your pimples. I have done countless experiments, and always found that if I just stuck to the regimen, those starter pimples would clear up way quicker than the ones I messed with 100% of the time. In fact, if I just left them alone and stuck to the regimen, they would not even surface the skin most of the time.
