Question by : Red skin from EVERY skin product?
Hey, i’m a 19 year old oily/dry skinned guy.
Ok, so whenever i wash my face or put hydration creams my face gets RED!
I bought various ultra-sensitive oily/acne prone skin fashwashes and hydration creams from brands like Avène, really good ones. I used to wash it day and night and put the hydration creams after washing… But it gets red with ANYTHING!
I started taking “care” of my skin when i was 18, about 16 monthes ago and since then my acne has improved ALOT, but i dunno it leaves my skin red around my cheeks, and nose, but nowhere else (when i apply products)…. I’m thinking about just leaving my skin alone, not put anything on it, but isn’t everyone supposed to wash their face?
By the way, i was using Epiduo for like 2 monthes which left my skin very red and irritated, so i stopped using it for about a month and a half now, could this be due to that or has it been too long since i used epiduo for it still to make me red?

I have the same thing, though I’m pretty sure that its likely the beginnings of rosacea . Left untreated it can turn into the ugly, fullblown kind, which is more common for men because they are more stubborn/proud to get treatment than women.
There are special products you can use. I use Eucerin products(available at drugstores like Walgreens), which is like a 4-step program where you use their sooting face wash morning and night. You apply in the morning a moisturizer that’s greenish, and apply over it what is essentially green coverup. At night you use the face wash again, and apply the nighttime cream. It sounds like something a female would do, but guys need to take care of their skin all the same, and its the only way to keep it from getting worse.
The reason you should be careful here is that washing your face too much with the wrong kind of face wash can only make things worse. I say try the rosacea/redness angle at first and see how it works out.
